Nov 18, 2008 - OMG! I haven't updated this thing in almost a year! Where has the time gone? Big highlights - School is going well, Anya is getting big, I moved to S. Austin (love it!) and I'm in a new relationship (yay Nick). I also started a new job at the Texas Campus Compact as Director of Communication and am super busy all the time. Recently I learned that, though I am a big dork, I am not the biggest dork of all when Nick and I went to the midnight release of World of Warcraft's new expansion Wrath of the Lich King. Anya turns 4 next month and I'm always surprised at how fast the time has gone. There are new pics from Halloween, the circus, a ballerina party, my home in S. Austin, Nick & me, and other misc pics - check them out!

Nov 30 First things first - yay for turkey! And Halloween was awesome! (be sure to check out Anya's pics of her as Snow White) Christmas is coming and I'm looking forward to lights and cookies and fun.

Now for the updates. I started back to school this fall to get my masters in counseling psychology. It's going well so far and the semester is almost over (whew!). My car (that had a rough spring) bit the dust after a guy ran a red light and smooshed the rear of my car completely. But all is ok, my parents sold me their car (also a prius) and they bought a brand new pruis for themselves.

Towards the future- I'm looking foward to moving down to the familiar south Austin in January and throwing myself into more work at the statesman and continuing my masters degree.

May 24 Ok so it's been a bit of a rough spring. Ice storm in January, my car had a minor problem (which in hybrid talk meant $400), SXSW was awesome and exhausting as usual, I began having muscle and nerve problems which the doctors either thing is Fibromyalgia or some kind neuro-muscular thing related to Stiff-man syndrome or RLS, Anya got to see Princesses on Ice, then my car got kit by a lady doing an illegal u-turn to go to the mall (luckily it is fixable and she was liable), and I've begun working for a very nice group of people at Christ the Rock Church. So it's been a few ups and downs, but hopefully things are evening out and calming down for the next few months. But next Tuesday is my birthday and Maria is coming in over the weekend with big plans. Red Elvises, Morrisey & 80's night here we come! Whoo-hoo!

Dec 16 Anya turned 2! She's my big girl now! She also got a big-girl bed and ate at the Breakfast with Santa (ho, ho, ho). Check out the birthday & christmas pics! And I got some awesome pics of christmas cheer!

Nov 16 Anya and I had fun trick or treating for Halloween! We're gearing up for Santa & turning 2. Check out the new pics!

Sept. 2. Micheal Lynn & I had a great weekend at the Austin BBW Bash. (Pics on Myspace.) We worked our buns off and make a lot of new contacts. There are also some great new pics of Anya!

Update 06/26 - Hi all! You may notice that Anya has a new site! That's right. It was time for a change.

Anya and I are doing good. She has a growing vocabulary and a love for swimming in the pool! And, we can't wait for Cape May - two weeks and counting!

Update 06/26 - Anya's new web page is up. My car window is repaired. Life is good again.

Update 05/05 - Anya & I had an excellent visit with Grandma & Grandpa for Easter and I started a new job at Massage Envy. We also went to the San Antonio Zoo with Kayla's family for Chelsea's birthday.

Update 01/05 - After an exciting birthday, Anya had an equally exciting Christmas! She made quite a haul from Santa this year and had a lot of fun visiting grandma & grandpa for christmas!

Update 12/16 - My little girl turned a big 1-year-old this week! She is moving from baby to toddler. She had a blast at her birthday party and loved her presents (not to mention the cake)! It was a Dora the Explorer birthday party (she picked it out in the party aisle).

She is visiting Grandma & Grandpa (aka Nana & Mr. Funke - depending on who you ask) for a few days until Mommy can get up there too. Then we're spending Christmas in the snowy North. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all our family and friends!

Update 11/14 - We are adjusting well to our new home in Austin. I am working for an Acupuncturist, helping with marketing and web designs. She has her own home practice so it is interesting to learn about running a home business.

Anya is walking like a pro, can say and wave bye-bye and is working on more words and getting into trouble while cruisin' around.

Update 9/13 - Anya is doing great. Already enjoying her time with "Auntie Kayla"! She is crawling and working hard on that walking thing... :) Check out some new pics on the Photos page...

Also, as many of you already know, we are moving to Austin, and I am happy to be going "home"

Update 7/30 - Anya cut her first tooth today!!! I am so proud of her, she's growing up.

My new job is going good, Whole Foods is a great place to work, though it has been so busy, there is barely time to breathe.

Update 7/17 - Ahhh, Cape May! What an excellent vacation! Of course the height of which has to be Anya's first trip to the beach. She love'd it (as you will see from the pics). We also got to visit Maw-maw Rhonda and my Grandma Funke and Aunt Jeanne and Uncle Steve. A very full week indeed - week and a half if you count the mini-break that Maria and I went on to Austin to visit Kayla & family. Big news also is that I have started my new job at Whole Foods! I am really enjoying it!

Update 6/2 - We had an excellent time in Austin last weekend for my birthday! As always it was great seeing Kayla and family, and we had a blast at the Alamo Drafthouse and other Austin-y things. Can't wait to go back again! ...Pictures coming soon (don't miss the Hello Kitty birthday cake!)... Also, Anya and I started swim lessons for her. She is doing great and loves the water!

Update 5/22 - We had a big get together over the weekend and are gearing up for birthdays (Justin - May 23 and Angela - May 29). It has been a big month for birthdays with friends Brent and Josh also celebrating their b-day's this month. We also had friends over to celebrate Saturday the 14th (see a picture of our spooky treats). It was great to have my mom visit for a couple days too. We had a great time and even took anya swimming for the first time (see photo). And of course there are many other pics of anya too...

Update 5/08 - (My first mother's day.) Anya is almost 5 months old (wow!). She is learning and developing rapidly. She is getting very close to crawling even! She scared us a little when she got croup (a barking cough / virus) a few weeks ago. But she is back to good health and has started eating infant cereal (see the pictures of her first meal). She also got her ears pierced (such a pretty girl!). She babbling and building up strength in her legs any time she can. And it is super cute to see her interact with Ivy (big brother); Ivy hugs her and pets her and she looks at him like he's crazy then lunges for his hair! :) It's cool to see them interact. Ivy even says something that sounds like "sister" - who knows, maybe that is what he's saying! I started training to become a massage therapist. I never knew that massage therapists had to know so much anatomy and physiology! I'm learning a lot of new stuff.

Update 3/24 - Our trip to Austin for SXSW was great! We are so lucky to have friends like Matt and Kayla! (Who generously let us and two more friends stay at their place for a week!) We saw nearly 20 films and about 5 bands and visited our favorite Austin haunts. Big news is we bought a prius, a used one. We had outgrown the bug and needed a 4-door vehicle. The great thing about it is of course the gas mileage - especially now! And in other big news, Justin got accepted to University of New Orleans, to transfer into their communication program. More pics are available, including Anya's first bluebonnet pics!

Update 3/5 - Anya won a trophy for her cuteness! She was first runner up in her age group at a cute baby contest at the mall. (Of course we all know she was jipped - b/c she is definitely the cutest by far!) : ) And, of course, there are more pictures online now!

Update 2/13 - Anya had her 2 month check-up last Thursday and she is doing great! She is 10 lbs, 4 oz and is 22" long. The doctor said she is doing great. She can almost roll over. She gets about 1/2 way and tries, really hard, to make it over before falling back. She'll get there soon! She's also making a lot of noise now and is starting to mimic noises (she makes a really cool "anya" sounding noise, that freaked us out when we heard it first!). Photos are up from her first Mardi Gras parade. She loved all the colors and sounds!
On my news front, I have been asked to show some of my photos in an art show here in town, I will be one of 3 artists showing work - hopefully somebody will buy one of them!
And, Justin received his phlebotomy certification (yay!), and has applied for jobs at local hospitals. Wish him luck!

Update 1/31 - Anya's smiling, grabbing things and breaking hearts already...mommy went crazy with the camera and there are many more pics!

Update 1/21 - Anya is up to 9lbs, 8oz...getting to be a big girl! There are more pics online now.

Update 1/8 - Well we're past the 3 week mark and both her and I had good follow up visits with the doctors. Justin and I are tired but doing good with the new little one. I am posting new pictures on the site and Kayla has posted some online from Anya's first Austin trip.

Update 12/17 - We're home! After 2 grueling weeks, Anya is here and healthy! I was induced Monday, 12/13, and after a day of hard laboring (including a period of several hours when my epidural didn't work because it had come completely out of my back and had to be re-inserted, and two severe dips in my blood pressure) it was decided that I was not progressing and a c-section was necessary. Turns out that the baby was turned and was not going to fit through my pelvis, so in quick succession they prepped me and whisked me into the OR and little Anya was born at 7:54 pm on Tuesday, December 14th. We spent the rest of the week in the hospital to recover (watching my blood pressure and to recover my potassium again) and are home today, Friday!

Update 12/13 - Over the past few weeks I have been having problems with elevated blood pressure, chest pain, and nausea. During a week-long stay in the hospital last week, it was determined that I have gall stones. Apparently fairly common in pregnancy, the stress of the baby pushing on my gallbladder has increased the likelihood of stones forming in the gallbladder. And, since little Anya is so high in my abdomen, she has my gallbladder pushed up into my chest, causing the pain I have been feeling. They were finally able to pinpoint the problem by ultrasound. Though, it took a bout of severe nausea with vomiting for them to suspect my gallbladder. The vomiting drained my body of potassium, a critical element for muscles, and I remained in the hospital until my potassium levels stabilized. My doctor has mentioned an early induction due to the problems, hopefully I will find out more at my appointment today. Either way, sometime after the baby is born, I will have to have laproscopic surgery to remove the gall stones.

Update 11/14 - I have added more pictures from Tabby's Blues Box (the documentary we are working on...)

LayceUpdate 11/09 - Layce, my kitty of 15 years, died today. I will miss her very, very much. Her kidneys gave up and she could no longer eat and was very weak. I will always remember her and the love she gave me. Sadly she will not be around to meet little Anya.

Update 11/08 - At the doctor appt. last week, he said that Anya is already head down and getting ready to make her appearance. Everything looks good, and as far as we know, still on schedule. Also, I have added some pictures from the documentary we are working on about Tabby's Blues Box.

Update 10/25 - Some people have been asking whether we have everything we need for the baby, or if we are still missing some things. Truthfully we are pretty set (thank God)! I have been whittling down a list of the last few things (that I can think of) that would be handy to have and have included the list on the site (below).

Update 10/22 - Some updates on my health - My blood sugar results came back positively (meaning no gestational diabetes! yay!), and I'm pretty much over my bout with shingles (read more about shingles) just waiting for the rest of the redness to go away (hopefully it won't scar).
Other than that, we enjoyed Voodoo Fest in New Orleans very much. It was super cool to see Green Day and the Beastie Boys. And I am back enjoying my water aerobics class.
Little Anya is doing good. She is moving like crazy and doing flips in my tummy. Justin likes to rile her up by pushing on my belly and having her kick me!
Don't forget to check out the photos I added to the site.

Update 10/11 - We have decided on the name! She will be Anya Rally Talbot.

Update 10/7 - At the visit last week we got confirmation that we're having a little girl. And she is right on track as far as size and development. We also got to video tape the ultrasound, so now we have a tape our of baby's first starring film role.
I had slightly elevated blood sugar levels, so I was re-tested again yesterday for gestational diabetes and will get the results back next week. Other than that, I am doing pretty good and still enjoy going to my water aerobics class.
